The Model Policy outlined in this document have been created by the members of The Alliance including legal health attorneys; hospital leadership, staff and legal teams, as well as health advocates and directly impacted immigrants. . The original version was published in 2018. This second version has been adapted to reflect current 2025 laws and policies both at the state and federal levels. Laws and policies discussed in the Model Policy are current as of March 2025.

This document can be used as a guide for institutional leaders and changemakers in their efforts towards becoming a more immigrant-friendly healthcare organization. The Alliance believes that these policies are integral for the health of immigrant communities in the face of a volatile political climate.
